FC Delco Alum Ben Olsen Named Interim Coach of DC United
Former FC Delco, DC United and US National Team star, Ben Olsen, was named interim coach of DC United on Wednesday, Aug. 4 following the dismissal of former coach Curt Onalfo. Olsen’s coaching career began prior to the 2010 MLS campaign as an assistant coach under Onalfo. He joined the coaching ranks following his retirement as a player on November 24, 2009.
As a player, Olsen was amongst the club’s all-time leaders in several key categories at the time of his retirement – second in games played (221), minutes played (17,098) and game-winning

Max Kurtzman and Joe Schmid Take Academy Honors
U-16 Goalkeeper Max Kurtzman was recently named to Starting XI of the National All-Academy Team for his play in this past season's Academy League. Midfielder Joe Schmid was also named to Starting XI of the U-18 Eastern Conference Academy Team. Joe will be attending and playing for Villanova University this fall. Congratulations to Max and Joe on their recent awards.
Hammerhead Brian Forgue Wins Golden Ball
U-19 Boys Hammerhead center back Brian Forgue of Glenmoore, PA, won the Golden Ball which was awarded to the MVP at Nationals this year in Overland, Kansas. Brian was a steady influence in the back line for the Hammerheads and lead them through bracket play and into the National Finals. Brian also plays for the Nittany Lions of Penn State. Congratulatins to Brian and the Hammerheads on a great U-19 season.
U15 Lightning Girls Take USCS National Title
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Tuesday, July 27, 2010) - Today the FC DELCO U15 Girls Lightning capped off a great season with a 2-1 National Championship victory over the Virginia Soccer Association (VSA) at the US Club Soccer National Finals in Virginia Beach, VA. This was the second time the Lightning faced off against VSA and the game could not have been more different.

U-19 Hammerhead Boys Take 2nd at USYSA Nationals !!
The U-19 Hammerheads made their fourth appearance at Nationals in attempt to bring home the McGuire Cup the most coveted trophy in youth soccer. FC Delco has won the U-19 McGuire Cup three times in the past ten years including two years by Hammerhead Coach Alan Mezger. U-23 Fury Girls Trip To Nationals
FC Delco Fury II made their 3rd consecutive trip to Nationals in Overland Park, Kansas July 23-25. The Fury's first match was against Woodbury SC out of MN on Friday morning, Delco lost 0-1 on a goal by Woodbury off of a deflection in the 78th minute. Game 2 Saturday morning was against the Eagles (CA) who were National Champions at U-15 in 2006. Delco was playing a very even match with the former champs when an inadvertent red card was given to Delco causing the Fury to play a man down for the remaining 60 minutes of the match. FC Delco Alum Jeff Larentowicz Named To MLS All-Star Team
FC Delco alum Jeff Larentowicz, of the Colorado Rapids has been named to the MLS All-Star Team and will play against Manchester United in this year's All-Star event in Houston on July 28. Jeff, in his sixth season in the MLS is playing in his first MLS all-star game. Jeff began his career with the New England Revolution where he played for five years until he was traded in the off-season to the Rapids. Congratulations and best of luck to Jeff in Houston !!
U14 Burnley Girls Win US Club Soccer Regionals
The FC Delco Burnley U14 Girls defeated Penn Fusion by score of 1- 0 to capture the US Club Regional Championships. Tayler Jamison scored the winning goal in the 1st Half with a header off a Gabby McKee corner kick. Overall, Burnley won four games recording 17 goals for and only 1 goal against. Congrats to the girls and coaching staff. Burnley will next be competing at Surf Cup in San Diego, CA July 24-26.
