Crunch Jrs. Partner with Hindley Juniors FC
In their summer trip to England, the Crunch Jrs., the team was graciously welcomed by Hindley Juniors FC, a team from a small town near Manchester. The Crunch later learned that their hosts were in need of new uniforms and got a chance to reciprocate in some goodwill by sending them some new gear as shown in the photo above. The two sides look forward to keeping in touch and following up on their seasons.

FC DELCO Under-16 Academy Take An Away Point From NJSA
JACKSON, NJ (March 6, 2010) - FC DELCO’s Under-16 Academy captured a crucial away point Saturday in a divisional contest against newcomer NJSA04 at the Justice Complex in Jackson, NJ. FC DELCO had Brett Campbell to thank for burying the equalizing goal in the 63rd minute after launching a furious counter attack. NJSA04 went ahead early on with a called penalty in area when DELCO’s Shane Campbell was judged to have fouled the NJSA attacker. Open Informational Meeting Scheduled for Rising U-14 Academy and Black VI Teams
On Monday evening March 22 at 7:30 PM, there will be a information meeting at YSC in Wayne for next season’s rising U-14 Academy (born after 1/1/96) and Black VI (born after 8/1/96) teams. There will be a brief presentation by FCD Dir. of Coaching Alan Mezger, U-14 Academy Coach John Hingley and U-14 Black VI Coach Dave Tordone followed by a Q & A session. This meeting is open to parents of both current FCD players and prospective players wishing to attend tryouts this spring.
Joe Schmid (PA) and Andrew O'Malley (DE) Take Gatorade Player of the Year Honors !!
Recently, Gatorade annouced their 2010 Player of the Year Awards and two FC Delco U-18 Academy players took home the honors. Andrew O’Malley won the award for the state of Delaware and Joe Schmidt was the honoree for Pennsylvania. O’Malley will be entering the University of Notre Dame this fall and Schmid has committed to Villanova University. Congratulations to both players for winning this prestigious honor.
FCD Alum & Academy Staff Member Jeff Larentowicz Traded to Colorado Rapids
FC Delco alumnus and current Academy Staff member Jeff Larentowicz has had a busy past few months. In December, Jeff got his first call up to the US Men's National Team camp in Carson, CA. Late last month, Jeff was traded by the New England Revolution in a blockbuster trade to the Colorado Rapids. Jeff will now be patrolling the defensive midfield for the Rapids in the upcoming MLS season which will kick off in March.
Grant Myers Named Coach of Rising U-12 Boys Team for Next Season
Boys Director of Coaching Alan Mezger announced that Grant Myers will be the new Head Coach for next season’s rising U-12 FC Delco Boys Team. Grant has served as an Assistant for Coach for Biff Sturla’s U-15 Cannibals team for many years and also coaches at Lower Merion Soccer Club. Well for half of the team it was back to Philadelphia. Everybody had flights at different times of the day, with different amounts of time to hang out. The other half of us are leaving in the morning so we took a day trip to Sedona. What a fun day. We took the “Pink Jeep” tour into the Red Rocks. The four wheeling adventure was really a lot of fun. U-13 Black VI Boys Accepted to Dallas Cup
The U-13 Black VI Boys have been selected to participate in Dallas Cup XXXI. The Dallas Cup is known as the top Tournament in North America and typically draws teams from all over the world. The 2010 event will be held from March 28-April 4 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX. Coach Mike Gorni and staff will be busy preparing the boys this winter for this exciting event.
FC DELCO Website Gets a Facelift!!
There is a new look to the FC DELCO website!! We have been working hard with our web partner, Demosphere International Inc., in redesigning our current site to reflect some of the changes in web technology and to have our site better reflect the recent changes within FC Delco. Some of the new things include a new look to the home page, dedicated sections for the US Developmental Academy and Elite Club National League (ECNL) and links to new social sites that FC Delco will support including Twitter and Facebook. In addition, most Team Pages will be updated to the upcoming 2009-2010 season and have a bit of a different feel as well.
